Early years pupil premium

The early years pupil premium (EYPP) is additional funding for early years settings to improve the education they provide for some 3 and 4 year olds.

From April 2015, your child’s nursery (including nursery classes in schools) or childminder can receive further support for your child. Childcare providers can claim up to £300 per year to spend on enriching your 3 or 4 year old child’s education.

Am I eligible?

You will be eligible if you have a 3 or 4 year old in our nursery, and meet at least one of the following criteria:

You receive:

  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance

  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit

  • Working Tax Credit run-on –paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for

Or your child has:

  • been looked after by the local authority in care for at least one day
  • been adopted from care
  • left care through special guardianship
  • subject to a child arrangement order.

How could this help my child?

It will help your child to:

  • benefit from extra resources and equipment suited to their needs
  • enjoy a range of new play, learning and activity experiences
  • be prepared for starting school.

What do I do next?

If you think you qualify, it’s quick and easy. Talk to academy officer and they will verify your eligibility and apply for the funding.

The Early Years Pupil Premium will be paid at a national rate of £0.53 per child per hour. This will equate to about £300 for a child taking the full 570 hour entitlement. If your child moves to another childcare provider, the funding can also be transferred, as long as you are still eligible.

This additional support will be paid directly to Braintcroft, and we will use the funds to support your child’s progress. We will have to demonstrate to Ofsted how the funds have been used to improve your child’s education.
